Arrival

Sustainability

The University of Bern is committed to sustainable development in research, teaching and operations. For this reason, we recommend that you travel by public transport.

By train

Berne is easily accessible by train. The Swiss railway network is one of the best and most reliable networks in the world and connects Berne with direct connections from all major cities in Switzerland and their airports. All connections are available on the homepage of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB):

http://www.sbb.ch

By car

If you do arrive by car, we recommend that you park your vehicle in one of the city's multi-storey car parks and get around the city on foot or by public transport. Berne's city centre is largely closed to through traffic. There is no free parking in Berne, nor do most of the hotels in the city have parking facilities. The cost of a parking space is approximately CHF 18.00-20.00 per day. In the car park adjacent to the conference venue, Bahnhof-Parking, a 24-hour ticket costs CHF 16.00-44.00.

In Berne

From Berne railway station, walk 3 minutes via the Welle exit and Schanzenstrasse to the conference building UniS (Schanzenstrasse 1). By public transport you can reach the conference building with line 20 in the direction of Länggasse, stop Universität. At the station forecourt, the bus stop of line 20 is located between the station and the glass wave roof on the right side (view direction wave roof) on the other side of the street (edge F). Bus line 20 leaves approximately every 5 minutes (journey time 4 minutes). If you stay at an accommodation within the city of Bern, you can use the Bern Ticket for free during your entire stay for public transport in zones 100/101 of the LIBERO tariff association as well as the Gurtenbahn, the Marzilibahn and the Münsterplattformlift.
